Vertigo, Dizziness Relief by Upland Claremont Cucamonga Chiropractor

This condition causes a sensation of spinning without your body actually moving.  A common cause is stress and structural changes to the inner parts of the ear with age, injury or a family history of this condition.  The inner ear controls your balance.  And can be brought on by movement, especially sudden.

With vertigo a person may also feel swaying, imbalanced, headaches, sweating, nausea.  The ear may also experience pressure, fluid-filled, pain or loss of hearing.

Treatments

Medical treatments include antihistamines, anxiety medication and specific over the counter and prescribed medications.  Included would be anti-nausea medication and others for the side effects.  More aggressive medical treatments could be injections to disable the inner ear, or surgical removal. Then a person’s quality of life can be lowered, permanently.

Chiropractic approach includes looking at neuropathy causing vertigo, dizziness.  An x-ray analysis can show the neck spine.  When normal motion occurs between the bones, the nerve and blood flow from the brain and body stays relaxed.  The body stays relaxed.

When the spine changes to an abnormal alignment, curve then the spinal joints loose motion.  Then the nerves can get pinched/irritated causing the vertigo and dizziness.

Chiropractic adjustments can return motion to the spine, relaxing the nerves.  Overtime the symptoms of vertigo can be relieved. Then retaking the x-rays can show an improved spine.

Certain foods help you relax or cause stress in the body.

The normal American diet is fast food: the drive thru, microwaved or a quick pizza.  These foods contain oils, sugars etc. and sometimes no minerals and vitamins essential for health.  Digesting these foods sends a nerve response to the brain to release stress hormones (cortisol, catecholamines).

A consistent diet in these foods keeps our body in a stressed state.  The side effects can be muscle/joint pain, tiredness, weight gain, etc.  When this becomes our norm long-term diabetes, high blood pressure and increased chance for stroke/heart attack becomes real.

X-ray Analysis Low Back Before Treatment | Upland Claremont Cucamonga Chiropractor

David had seen a chiropractor before for his 10+ years of back pain.  No results and frustrated.  Approaching retirement, he did not want to have surgery or live on medications.

David tells his story (short video).

We approached David’s problem in a different way: we started with an x-ray.

These are the steps how David is now pain-free.

Start with understanding a normal low back/lumbar x-ray:

The image has a normal curve and spinal disc space (I’m pointing too).  This keeps the spinal joints moving, the spinal disc healthy.  Then the spine can recovery from injury easily.

David’s x-ray BEFORE treatment:

The disc space is narrowed (I’m pointing to).  This is due to the spine losing motion, then the disc will narrow to pinch the nerve.  Then constant pain can occur.

David started treatment: chiropractic adjustments, icing, stretching.  After 10+ years of constant back pain and few months of our treatment, David is pain-free without surgeries or medications.

X-ray Analysis to Fix her Neck, Pain Relief -Sarah. By Upland Claremont Cucamonga Chiropractor

Amy was upset, and frustrated.

Her daughter Sarah was going through her medical doctor, then foot doctor and physical therapy.

And still her legs, back and feet hurt for months. No results.

Being in junior high school is tough enough on a child’s self-esteem and confidence without having pain to make it worse.

Amy brought her daughter to our office for  a second opinion, after we explained we might approach Sarah’s problem from a different perspective.

The exam and x-ray analysis showed Sarah’s pain maybe coming from her overall posture and abnormal spine.

Here is a normal neck spine:

A normal curve, normal spacing between the vertebrae, and normal first bone angling about 25 degree to horizontal.  This allows the spine to bend and flex without causing pain, and keeps the body in good posture⤵

In Sarah‘s first x-ray, you can see how her neck is straighter than normal. This wants to lock the neck in the forward head posture and keep the body hunched forward⤵

This alarmed Sarah‘s parents, so we started a regiment of treatment: chiropractic adjustments, stretches and strength exercises.

After about 2 1/2 months of treatment, here is Sarah’s new x-ray

This xray is more curved, and the head is sitting more over the shoulders.  This straightens the back to promote better posture.

And now Sarah can run without feet, knee or back pain. And maintaining the exercises keeps her body strong and healthy.

In the end, the before and after x-rays objectively shows that Sarah has improved and can stay this way.

Many of us human struggle with keeping healthy habits.  It takes work.

Having a buddy system allow you to be accountable to somebody else if you don’t show up to your workout, eat healthy, or go to work.  We feel guilty.

This is why group training, group projects and families are so successful to reach an individual’s goals.  Example are crossfit facilities, and group H.I.T. training where group classes are made up people looking to reach the same goal.  Especially in the first 4-6 weeks when a person is working to make a permanent change.

So having a person who can encourage you (a buddy) or a mentor to guide you can push you when you want to quit, and encourage you when do well.
