In Part 5, chronic poor posture can lead to spinal joint locking and arthritis without symptoms. In these cases, the people can have a sympathetic stress response but minimal muscle pain or neuropathy.
However, the effect of the hyperactive sympathetic system on the body can lead to internal stress causing the body to present with medical conditions. Heart palpitations and anxiety are examples. Watch the video to understand one patient’s sympathetic recovery story.
To understand this body’s response to limited spinal motion, here are the links to the full video and part 1-4:
So recovery through normalizing spinal motion allows the sympathetic stress response to reduce. Thereby returning health to the body. Then the individual can handle the stress of daily life.

Sitting is the most used posture throughout the day.
In this short video Dr. Ratkovic explains the best posture while sitting to limit the stress on our back. By understanding the “how to’s” of proper positioning, you can keep limit back pain and stop hunching forward.
Here is Natalie displaying proper sitting posture and your checklist:
Your checklist:
-the feet underneath you
-your knees below your hips
-lean back starting with the shoulders, so your lower back stays activated.
This limits tension in your spine, and allow you to sit up easier. Being conscious keeping your shoulders from coming up and your neck pushing forward.
Starting with these steps when you sit gives you the potential to have good standing posture like this:
So try this sitting posture checklist. After a few weeks consciously going through it, then hopefully your body can remember unconsciously so you keep your body’s posture well.
A Chiropractic x-ray analysis and posture exercises can keep you healthy to counter the stress of work, home, etc. Carina’s quick recovery is an example of this. Watch why.
Paul likes the treatment for his low back discs problems; Olivia (who is deaf) can sleep now and not take medications for back pain. Watch their story here.
Here are less than a minute clips from our Workshops:
In this part of the motion-health loop (MHL) we get to understand the effect of less spinal motion. When this occurs the spinal joints stimulate the sympathetic (Stress) nervous system.
The sympathetic is part of your body’s stress response. This activate your fight or flight automatic body response to get away from a tiger, for example. When the spinal joints lock, then your sympathetic nerves stimulate release of stress hormones: cortisol and catecholamines.
Chiropractic loosens spinal joints, reversing this process to help produce relaxation hormones. Then you relax.
Can’t wait until part 5? Here is the full video that explain all of it:
A healthy spinal joint has normal motion. Motion is caused by muscle and ligaments. Muscles have elasticity that allows the body to flex and bend. Spinal ligaments have relatively minor elasticity causing only bone to bone motion. Specifically in the front and back of the vertebrae.
Here is the difference when the body moves:
When there is a injury or trauma to a ligament or muscle, tears in the fibers cause healing in a cross section formation. An example of this is bone healing; the cross fibers make the bone stronger.
On the contrary, muscle and ligament healing occurs by scar tissue formation. Scar tissue is like glue, locking the joint but can be broken up. Chiropractors break up the scar tissue, returning healthy joint motion.
If scar tissue is allow to remain, then arthritis can develop even WITHOUT PAIN.
In summary, scar tissue forms when a soft tissue injury heals. If the scar tissue remains, then arthritis can develop. Chiropractors break up scar tissue to prevent arthritis.
Each person is at a unique state of health.
