Derek has learned and seen results understanding an individual’s mindset to keep them positive when an athlete’s performance starts to drop.  This short clip explains how he has worked with baseball pitchers.  This would work with any child teenager, especially when they love playing the sport.

Understand that being an athlete or a person who want to stay healthy takes a positive mindset to maintain a routine to see the results (sometime 4-6 weeks).  Then the results can keep you motivated.  So enjoying the work as an athlete or being a normal human. Then enjoy the results!

In the United States, we use our brain too much.  We have minimized our need to exercise.  This has caused us to spend most of the day sitting.  This lack of motion without exercise causes tightness in your joints and muscles and changes our posture.

When staying in a poor posture for a long time our body will cause our body to go into a stressed state: back/neck pain, tiredness, less sleep, etc.

Chiropractic adjustments improve spinal motion, posture and your health.  Then adding stretches and exercises keeps you healthy to tolerate the stress of our amount of sitting.

This adaptation can cause anxiety, high blood pressure, constant pain, less sleep, chronic tiredness, weight gain and other health conditions.

Finding ways to relax your body can return nerve, chemistry and hormone balance to heal your body.  Self-therapy can be stretching, exercise, music, massage, and proper eating.

Many of us human struggle with keeping healthy habits.  It takes work.

Having a buddy system allow you to be accountable to somebody else if you don’t show up to your workout, eat healthy, or go to work.  We feel guilty.

This is why group training, group projects and families are so successful to reach an individual’s goals.  Example are crossfit facilities, and group H.I.T. training where group classes are made up people looking to reach the same goal.  Especially in the first 4-6 weeks when a person is working to make a permanent change.

So having a person who can encourage you (a buddy) or a mentor to guide you can push you when you want to quit, and encourage you when do well.

Your Habits Help or Hurt You -with Henry of ASB Therapy

Are you aware how daily habits of work, homelife and/or sports can lead to an injury?

Realize that routinely having a stretching, walking, exercising routine can keep you from having a health problem.

Our life when we are not sleeping causes stress on our body (good and bad).  When we are aware how much we sit/stand/use the phone, etc. in poor posture, then we can start correct the position.

And playing a one-sided sport such as baseball, golf, and softball can lead to injury UNLESS you train both your left and right side outside the sport.

Living in a Stress State

Stress Relief/Nutrition Talk with Christy on the Crooked Spine Show

All of us want to feel and look good ALL the time.  Being human, it takes work.

Living the day-to-day dog-eat-dog work can make it difficult (not impossible) to do this.

Short term we may not see any differences in our health.  Long term the body adapts to the stressors around us by causing our body and mind to stay in a stress state.

Examples of this are less recharging sleep, muscle/joint pain, abdominal pain, headaches, anxiety, grouchiness- you get the idea.  Then our body wants to stay in it’s new “normal” state by eating sugary foods and not exercising.

It takes work (physical activity and keeping a positive attitude) to stay healthy.  DO THE WORK! It won’t be easy or fun sometimes.  But we will look and feel good?
