Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) cannot be made in sufficient quantity, and therefore must be obtained from food.   The two EFAs are omega-6 and omega-3.

A healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 (between 4:1 to 2:1) keeps the body healthy and accelerates healing.  This can be accomplished by having a diet high in omega-3 EFAs, also known as an inflammatory diet.

Omega-3s are found in cold water, wild caught fish such as sardines, salmon and mackeral. Some plant sources include olive oil, flax seed oil and butternuts.  Grass fed meat and chicken eggs along with seaweed are also good sources of omega-3 EFAs.  (List of omega-3 foods)

Having a good ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 EFAs helps treat psychiatric disorders,  Alzheimer’s, rheumatoid, and improves your immune system.  Omega-3s increase the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) lowering the risk of artery plaque build-up and cardiac conditions.

Having a healthy nervous system to sufficiently absorb omega-3 EFAs keeps your  body healthy.

Enjoy better health from the inside out.
