Endurance training should only be performed when a person is free of injury and has a moderate level of experience. Seek a Wellness Chiropractic examination before beginning a training program.
Endurance is your body’s ability to “endure” a physical stress (i.e. running, biking, etc.) over time. Endurance is improved by increasing the length of time of an exercise. Improving your endurance keeps your heart muscle exercising/improving, improves oxygen through your body, and breaks down body fat.
The direct benefit of building your endurance is weight loss, increased metabolism, and hormonal balance. Short-term, this will lead to increased energy, better mood and sleep. Maintaining long-term endurance training will help fight certain health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
Beginning endurance training is as simple as going for a walk. Improve your endurance by increasing the number of days per week and length of your walks, then start jogging, if appropriate. The intensity of your training should make you breathing becomes labored and sweating is inevitable. This increases your cardiovascular benefit and allows you to build endurance to improve your workout.

Strength training is specific, and does not improve flexibility or endurance. An added benefit of muscle strength is weight loss because this type of muscle will burn more calories.
Strength training should only be performed when a person is free of injury and has a moderate level of experience with weight lifting.Seek a Wellness Chiropractic examination before beginning a strength training program.
What you need to know for a strength training program:
You will be lifting heavy weights. Be safe. Focus on your technique and perform slow, controlled motions. The purpose is to fatigue the muscle. This will cause pain which is normal. Let your heart rate drop between sets. Muscle recovery is important; take at least 24 hours before perform the same exercises again.
When routinely strength training, your feeling of getting will give you a sense of accomplishment, leading to better self-esteem and a higher tolerance for stress.

As we age, our muscles and ligaments lessen their flexibility, and our joints experience less range of motion. This can begin in our early 20s gradually with accelerated tightening with injuries and trauma.
To maintain our physical fitness, we can maintain our flexibility by active stretching and passive stretching of muscle and ligaments, while increasing joint motion through Chiropractic adjustments.
Active stretching is what you can do on your own. For example, performing the Upper Trapezius Stretch demonstrated by Dr. Ratkovic is performed by placing your hand over your head and holding for 15-30 seconds.
Passive stretching occurs with someone else stretches you. For example, a massage therapist can have a hands-on approach and push your muscles/ligaments to where you feel uncomfortable and allow more flexibility than active stretching.
Chiropractic Adjustments improve flexibility by increase joint range of motion. For example, a specific chiropractic adjustment to your neck will free scare tissue allowing improved joint motion. The adjustment also allows healing of disc conditons which improves nervous system function.
Stretching helps specific muscle/ligament tissue stay healthy. Chiropractic Adjustments return joint motion leading to an increased overall health of the body.
